‘Ellie’s Feminist-Inspired Eatery Heads to Dallas’ Arts District’ – Eater Dallas

A new restaurant is headed to the already saturated Dallas Arts District this fall, slated for the forthcoming HALL Arts Hotel.

Ellie’s will debut at the corner of Ross Avenue and Leonard Street, named for CEO Craig Hall’s late mother who’s described as a “trailblazer for women’s rights” and one of the first women to enlist in the U.S. Navy, according to a press release. While details on the eatery’s interiors and menu aren’t available just yet, the press release describes the forthcoming eatery as “artful” with plans to serve up “elegant and informal” meals while fulfilling its “mission to empower strong women.” Eater will keep an eye on how that translates in terms of staffing and leadership positions in the restaurant.

When the 10-story luxury hotel debuts this fall, it will be the only hotel in the Arts District, however HALL Arts Hotel’s forthcoming eateries including Ellie’s, a second yet-to-be-named eatery, plus Ellie’s Lounge and Terrace face stiff competition for diners. The handful of existing eateries like Flora Street Cafe, Musume, Tei-An, and others have had to navigate a largely deserted Arts District when there’s not a show on one of the stages, which ultimately lead to Proof + Pantry’s demise nearly a year ago.

Stay tuned for more information on Ellie’s and HALL Arts Hotel’s other forthcoming restaurant slated to debut in 2020.
